Question 1

Why is board & train your primary program?

Board & train allows us to work with your dog every single day in a structured, distraction-controlled environment, something that's simply not possible in a once a week lesson format. Dogs learn through repetition and consistency. When your dog lives with us during training, we can address behaviors the moment they happen, build reliable habits faster, and give you a dog that's already been through hundreds of real world repetitions before you ever pick them up. It's the most efficient and effective way to create lasting change.

Question 2

What if I can't make the weekly private lessons during day training or board & train?

Accepted Answer

The weekly private lessons are a required part of both the day training and board & train programs, they're how we transfer everything your dog is learning directly to you. Without them, you'd be picking up a trained dog without knowing how to communicate with them, and the results wouldn't stick. That said, life happens, and we understand that not everyone is local or has a perfectly open schedule. If you can't make it in person, we will make accommodations to ensure you're still learning, including virtual lesson options so that distance or scheduling never becomes a barrier to your success as a handler. Just reach out as early as possible and we'll find a solution that works. Your progress matters just as much as your dog's.

Question 3

What vaccines does my dog need?

All dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo (DHPP), and Bordetella (kennel cough) before starting any program. We require proof of vaccination from your vet prior to your dog's first session or drop-off. If your dog is a puppy and hasn't completed their full vaccine series yet, reach out, we can discuss timing and what's appropriate for their age and health status.

Do you offer boarding for dogs that haven't trained with you?

No. Day camp and overnight boarding are exclusively available to graduates of Valiant Canine Training programs. This isn't about being exclusive for the sake of it, it's about your dog's wellbeing. Our boarding environment is a real home, not a high traffic kennel. Our dogs live here, our routines are established, and our expectations are consistent. Dogs who have trained with us already know our communication style, our routines, and our environment. Bringing in an untrained dog would be stressful for them and disruptive to the dogs already here.

Will my dog only listen to you after training — not me?

This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and it's a fair one. The short answer: no. Every program includes owner education as a core component, not an afterthought. Whether it's the weekly private lessons in day training, the transfer sessions at the end of board & train, or the owner education included in puppy training, you will learn exactly how to communicate with your dog using the same tools and techniques we use. Your dog learns to respond to clear, consistent communication, and we teach you how to provide that. The goal is always a dog that works for the whole family.

Question 6

What happens after training is over?

Training doesn't end at pickup. Every program includes post-program support to help you and your dog succeed long-term. Board & train and day training clients receive follow-up lessons after the program ends. You'll also have access to us for questions as you work through real-life situations at home. We want to see your dog thrive, not just during training, but for years after. If you ever feel like you need a refresher or run into a new challenge, we're here.
